Algorhythm Music Video
This is an animation I created based off of the lyrics of the 'Childish Gambino' song "Algorhthym".
I created the video with inspiration of movie animated intros such as the opening to "Catch me if you can" and various other minimalist animations, and of course the lyrics to the song.
I animated this entirely in Adobe Animate, and left hidden transition points in background colours or by blacking out the screen so that I could animate the video in sizeable chunks which I could then use to create the video in full in Premiere Pro.
Life on the Edge
This animation follows a character who represents someone who is "straight edge" meaning they don't drink alcohol or do any sort of drugs. The inspiration came from the Irish stereotype and culture of being heavy drinkers. This allowed me to imagine an Irish person as being nervous that they might not be accepted socially if they don't drink.
Due to the source of my inspirations having deep connections to a subculture closely linked to punk culture, I used this as my basis for finding inspiration and creating my style for this animation. This led me towards various magazine style choices with a heavy paper aesthetic and a messy spray painted background across the video to create a distinct style and tie back to the roots of my inspiration.
Stop Motion Lego Animation
I decided to record the process of creating a small Lego set and putting it together as a stop motion animation. This project inspired me to take this style on again in the future, however, unlike future attempts I didn't have all of the professional tools to help me create it.
When taking my pictures I held my phone inside of a vice that I owned for holding a racing sim wheel onto my desk to ensure as little movement as possible when creating the piece, I also marked my desk in pencil so the subject wouldn't do the same. This didn't fully work (as you'd probably expect) but it did create a pretty decent attempt at it which I am happy to share on my portfolio.
